Ambition is the key to achievement
A mentoring programme for teachers at The Cathedral School, Cardiff, has helped strengthen teaching practices and promote good practice throughout the school. In addition, using data more effectively to challenge pupils to achieve more aspirational grades at GCSE and tracking their progress carefully has raised pupils’ ambitions and enabled pupils to understand their potential and to evaluate their progress more robustly.

Going for Gold!
The Cathedral School, Cardiff, has successfully implemented an award scheme that motivates and inspires key stage 3 pupils to extend their academic and physical skills and develop their leadership qualities and particularly their inter-personal skills. The Bronze, Silver and Gold awards, which are managed by the pupils, also help to promote independence and self-motivation.
